Membership

If you are a veteran or serving CF member, own a motorcycle, thinking about owning one or just want to be part of this active veteran unit, and you like to support charitable events, as well as just enjoying a good outing with friends, you should consider a membership with your nearest C.A.V. unit.

If you have never served in the Canadian Forces but wish to support C.A.V.'s charitable efforts, or wish to Ride alongside veterans, you should also consider a membership with your nearest C.A.V. unit.

Membership Requirements

Veteran Rider

  • A veteran or serving member, and owns a Motorcycle or Trike.
  • Full membership with full voting rights in their respective unit.
  • Must adhere to wearing of a black vest only.
  • Wears "The CAV Veteran Crest" on the back of the vest, and is awarded the Winged Wheel for proficiency in Riding and Rules of the Road, by the membership of the respective unit. The Winged Wheel is worn on the front of the vest, the tag indicating the member's Unit Battle Honour is worn on the front of the black vest along with their Year Stripes; Silver for each year a C.A.V. Rider and Gold for each 5th year.
  • The only item allowed for wear on the back of the vest will be the CAV Veteran crest, no other items are to be worn on the back.


Year Bars

Veteran Non-Rider

  • A veteran or serving member, who doesn't own a motorcycle, but wants to support The CAV events.
  • Must adhere to wearing of black vests only.
  • Full membership with full voting rights in their respective unit.
  • Wears "The CAV Veteran Crest" on the back of the vest, the tag indicating the member's Unit Battle Honour is worn on the front of the black vest along with their Year Stripes; Silver for each year a C.A.V. Rider and Gold for each 5th year.
  • The only item allowed for wear on the back of the vest will be the CAV Veteran crest, no other items are to be worn on the back.
  • If at any time in the future the veteran non-rider decides to own a motorcycle a probation period will be determined by the respective unit before the Winged Wheel is awarded. Once awarded, the Winged Wheel is worn on the front of the vest.

Veteran Supporter

  • Not a veteran or a serving member, and may or may not own a motorcycle. Participates in any CAV activity.
  • Must adhere to wearing of black vests only.
  • Voting rights in their unit. No voting rights in the respective formation or nationally unless respectively permitted by the formation president or National President.
  • Wears The CAV Supporter Crest on the back of the vest, the tag indicating the member's Unit Battle Honour is worn on the front of the vest. If a Veteran Supporter rides then they will be awarded the Winged Wheel for proficiency in Riding and Rules of the Road, as decided upon by the membership of the respective unit. The Winged Wheel is worn on the front of the vest. Year Stripes; Silver for each year a C.A.V. Rider and Gold for each 5th year will be worn on the front of the vest.
  • The only item allowed for wear on the back of the vest will be the CAV Supporter crest, no other items are to be worn on the back.

Membership Fee

  • $65.00 for the initial year;
  • $35.00 each subsequent year.

  • Access to the member's area of the web site
  • The CAV Crest veteran or supporter (NOTE: The CAV Crest is at all times the property of The CAV Kitshop.)
  • The CAV Winged Wheel for Proven Riders
  • Unit Battle Honour tag (personal name/nickname tags are not provided and must be purchased separately through the CAV Kitshop)
